Who We Are

HSI Explorer Post 601 is a youth program dedicated to aspiring law enforcement professionals. We offer hands-on training, mentorship from experienced special agents, and community service opportunities.

Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) Explorer Post 601 is a premier federal law enforcement youth program. Explorers participate in hands-on law enforcement training, develop leadership skills, and receive mentorship from special agents.

The HSI Explorer Program is designed to prepare young people for success by developing leadership skills, providing strong adult mentorship, and offering hands-on life experiences. The program is built around three core components: youth leadership, positive role models, and five essential pillars—Career Development, Life Skills, Community Service, Character Development, and Leadership. Explorers are encouraged to lead planning and running activities, helping them grow into confident, capable leaders.

Explorers build trust and open communication between youth and law enforcement through meaningful interaction with HSI agents and staff. They participate in various engaging programs, including local and regional competitions, field trips, community service events, workshops, award ceremonies, and scholarship opportunities. Training sessions cover key topics such as HSI objectives, criminal investigations, physical training, crime scene analysis, and surveillance. Parental involvement is welcomed and encouraged to support each Explorer’s journey.

Our Mission – What We Do, How We Do It

HSI Explorer Post 601 is committed to equipping young people from diverse backgrounds with meaningful life and professional skills through hands-on career experiences and mentorship. The program fosters character and professional development, empowering Explorers to reach their full potential in school, the workforce, and beyond. Explorers are challenged to grow into confident, capable leaders through structured physical training, discipline, and real-world guidance. Advisors also support them with college applications, career planning, and personal development.

The Post offers young adults a unique introduction to law enforcement and government service, focusing on the mission of Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) to protect the United States and ensure public safety. Explorers gain firsthand exposure to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) responsibilities while learning the values of honor, service, and integrity. Our outreach extends across the diverse neighborhoods of the New York City Metropolitan Area, providing access to mentorship from federal agents who are invested in shaping the next generation of leaders. HSI Explorer Post 601 gives youth the tools, knowledge, and experiences needed for future success.
